I'd suggest dropping down to at least an 18" rim, 17" wouldn't be bad either and would likely save some cash buying tires and rim size. I have a pair of 18" rims with blizzaks on them. Just make sure to get a tire with a good sized profile.
There are dedicated winter Hakkapeliitta tires that I would definitely get if I didn't already have these blizzaks. I had them on previously vehicles and they perform very, very well. See here: http://www.nokiantires.com/product-group?group=1.01
Just for reference, I'm in Calgary. Definitely had my fair share of winter driving

17" will be better because it will cut the snow much better than 18's.
I'm moving up to Upstate NY next month and don't have a clue how much snow there usually is.
Do you guys think Ultra High Performance All-Season tires will work? I'm thinking about getting the Continental ExtremeContact DWS from tirerack. These performs the best in snow for all-season tires.
Will these tires be good for upstate NY snow?

I can't think of anywhere in the states where AWD would be required. AWD is nice but won't save you, neither will 4WD. I drove my turbo'd S13 with an open diff for 2 winter seasons, but I had snow tires. Zero problems.
If you have snow accumulate where you're heading, get dedicated winter tires. I'm avidly against all seasons when it comes to situations like that. The difference, when in tough winter conditions, with respect to winter vs. all season tires is honestly night and day.
Remember, no amount of AWD, 4WD or winter tire grip will save you if you don't leave plenty of room and are careless.

What year and trim of G do you have? I have the small brakes, 2003, and I can fit 16" steelies on there.
16s are waay cheaper than 17s, 18s. 225.60.16 works fine and you can get decent ones for less than a bill each.
I use 16" steelies from a 2000+ Dodge Grand Caravan (not the regular Caravan). Others will work, but make sure the hub bore is large enough.
