Larger Tire Question

Hi all,

Need new tires soon and was looking at larger tires for my 08 Sedan w/sport wheel pkg. I used the calculator and came up with the following possibilities:

F - 245/45/18 R - 275/40/18
OR
F - 235/50/18 R - 255/45/18

I'm concerned about the 275/40 fitting the 8.5" rear wheel. What I am trying to achieve is a little more rim protection due to the increasing amount of potholes here in LA.

Thanks.

The 245/45/18 R - 275/40/18 combo is the most popular and will offer the best overall diameters for the car. 275's do, however, really like a 9" min wheel width. Not much you can do with the oe wheels except for the oem stagg tire sizes. Using a 255 in the back won't give you any further protection vs. the oem 245's.

Thanks Neil....for just regular driving, would I have a problem with the 275/40 on the rear? I don't autocross or anything, but do like an occasional canyon run.

If you can get it on the wheel it would be a tad pinched on there. Not sure how/if that will affect the cars handling being mounted on a rim too narrow for it.
