17" coupe wheels over Brembo's?

I would like to use stock 17" coupe wheels with snow tires on my coupe with 18" wheels. Does this fit correctly over the Brembo's?

the sedan and coupe 17s will not fit over the brembos, but the 350z 17s fit over the brembos.

Assuming the 350 Z wheels fit, are they also the correct offset so the tires do not rub or appear too far inboard of the fenders?

I can't confirm whether they will fit over the Brembos or not, but I can confirm that the offsets are correct for the "G" and the width is also the same as the "G" 17s. 7.5" front and 8.0" rear. IMO, they are also the better looking of the two wheels.

The 17" 350Z wheels will indeed clear the Brembos ... just barely. It does share the same exact width and offset as the Coupe 17". The difference is at the spoke design, which for the Z's case is just thin enough to clear the Brembos.

will "just barely" cause any problems? right now this is my #1 choice for a winter wheel/tire setup.

Forgive me for being reluctant to tell you that's it's 110% ok, when your safety is at stake. Having said that, I have seen Brembo equipped Z/G use those 17s for track use. If in doubt, you can always run a 3mm spacer (relatively thin) ... at which point, the 17" coupe wheels will also work.

Nice,

Thanks for the info. Any idea on where to get 3mm spacers?

Tirerack for 17's

If you're looking for a cheap 17" tire/wheel combo for winter you might look at Tirerack. I just received some 17's last night from them and they cleared the Brembos just fine.

I was looking at getting 18" tires to replace the stock rubber. The package I put together, including 17" wheels and tires, was about the same price. And now, I don't have to have the rubber swapped out and can change the tires myself when the weather gets bad. Also, the 17" tires will be cheaper to replace in a few years.

I choose the cheapest wheels the ASA JH3 (nice 7 spoke that looks close to stock) and the cheapest studless Ice and Snow tire (Dunlop Graspic DS-2). The whole package, with shipping, was just under $1,000.

Tried them on last night and everything cleared.

Just a thought.

Re: Tirerack for 17's

i was just looking at the same setup on there with the bridgestone blizzaks, around $1100, not too bad.

i was looking into the Z wheels because they are very cheap on ebay. i've seen all 4 for $200 (compared to $129 per wheel for the cheapest on tirerack). they might have minor scratches, but i don't care since it's the winter anyway.

i'm also pricing a few other ideas i had like getting winter tires for my stock 18s, then buying new 18s or 19s in the spring. i want to spend as little as possible for a winter setup, but if i can get new "summer" wheels out of it, i might spend the extra dough. not sure what i'm gonna do yet.

anyone know of any other OEM wheels that fit over the brembos since they are pretty cheap on ebay? i don't mind if it says nissan on it, but there's no way i'm getting OEM wheels that have another make's name on them.

Do you have photos of your setup? I have been trying to find better photos of the JH3's but have been unable to do so. I'm also looking at them for snow tires.
Thanks
Dan

Re: 17" coupe wheels over Brembo's?

I think I can answer the question here. If you want stock 17" coupe rims to fit over your Brembo brakes, check out this thread:

http://www.6mt.net/forum/topic.asp?T...erms=17,brembo

Without the spacers it is about 1-2 mm clearance, now it is closer to 4-5 mm which is plenty. I got my spacers at www.ezaccessory.com. I'm going to use this setup for this winter, and then likely keep the rims for auto-x. I hope this helps!

Mike
