OEM 18s with 245 45 18 on a coupe?

Like the title said, can I run an OEM 18s with 245 45 18 on the FRONT and REAR of an 04 coupe? This would be my Winter setup. I am on tokico blues and Z gf210s. Wondered if I will have to turn off my vdc button every time? Any advice will help. TT

You can, but you will need to shut off VDC or it will keep activating because of the lack of 3% F/R diameter difference. Some folks on this board might have been able to get away with it, but I wouldn't run that combo if it were me.

I've only had an issue with the VDC when driving hard and making turns into odd-cambered parking lot entries which happens with correct tires anyway. I only use it for a winter setup so its not like Im driving hard that often anyway.

I will agree though, its not an ideal setup. next time around I will go with 245/40/18 for winter tires.

do you mean 245/40 for the front and leave the 45's for the rear? cause that i think that would def help, i think even driving normally with 45's front and rear should give the VDC issues. at least theoretically it should.

245 45 18 all the way around. Using 3% rule - 225 to 245 is within 3%, so theory says it should work. Didn't some coupes come with non staggered tires new?

you wont have any issues.

the rule is the front and rears should be no more than 3percent from each other.

my tire setup is 3.7 percent off and I have no issues, cause my tires are within the 3 percent from front to back.

Cool. I did not think it would be an issue. I am getting a sweet deal on winter tires and did not want to pass them up.

would this be the same running 225/45/18 all around? or 225/40/18?
i dont really care for performance or looks for my winter setup, just cheap but safe.

from my experience with the 245/45/18 setup, I would do one of the sizes below instead. Thats only due to how tall a 245/45/18 is in the front in terms of clearance.

225/45/18 all around or 245/40/18 all around

I have also done 235/40/18 all around and it was nice, but still seemed like not enough total diameter. 235/45/18 would be best, but there weren't a lot of options when I bought them a few years ago.

thanks for the info. i found a set of 235/45/18 online. shows 1.3% diff for both front and rear on a tire calc. so i shouldnt have any vdc issues. correct?

Sounds good long as your wheels are not staggered. If they are, 235/45 front and 245/45 rear. The diameter dif from front to back (those sizes on stag) is not great enough to trip the VDC

i think im confused on the 3% rule. are you telling me since i have a stock setup (staggered), i have to have a 3% difference w/ the front and rear wheel for my vdc to work correctly. i was reading the 3% rule as the difference in calculated relative velocity of the new wheel/tire vs stock wheel/tire combo. the new rear wheel/combo (235/45/18) would be 1.328% slower than the stock rear combo (245/45/28) and the front wheel/combo 235/45/28 would be 1.364 % faster than stock front 225/45/28. please correct me. im using the tire exchange calculator iphone app.
thanks

imo, stag the circumference only by ten front to back and stay with 45 series. larger diameter is going to run a lesser risk of tripping vdc than smaller would. I am personally running 225/55/17 front and 235/55/17 rear on a 2003 sedan with 350z rims. Stock tires on the sedan rims are 215/55/17 on all four corners. I have never had a vdc issue becuase my diameter is larger but, only by about .25" front and .50" rear. 55 series sounds phat but, it looks mean as hell on my setup
