I've been meaning to get some snow rims/tires to replace my 19in sport wheels for the winter so on Friday i bought a 17in winter setup for the G from
'Philly's Finest' on here. He contacted me with the rims/tires for sale so i took it off his hands.

It's 17" ASA JH3 rims and BLIZZAK WS60 tires with tpms sensor

i got the wheels/tires installed by Mr.Tire couple days ago but the guys said that the wheel was too tight or something with the plastic hub centric spacers that go on the inside of the wheel and that it wasn't needed. He mounted and balanced the wheels but gave me back the spacers. Are these absolutely necessary? The car seems to drive fine at highway speed etc.

Also, the tpms light was off at slow speeds, but then after going highway speeds 70-80 for like 5 min, the light blinked and then remained on.
I checked the pressures last night and they were 27, this morning they were 29....so i changed to 35psi but the light is still blinking when the car starts and then remaining constant. Any ideas what's happening??

I'm planning on taking it back to Mr.Tire tomorrow to see what's going on.

Those hubcentric spacers are to keep the wheel centered around the hub at speed, hence the name. Without them, the only thing keeping the wheel centered is the friction created by the lug nuts. You could end up with balance issues after some miles, and a wobbly wheel. I would put them back on - that's why Tire Rack includes them with every kit. If they're a bit tight, you can lightly scrub/sand the hubs to get them to fit.

As for TPMS, sounds like one or more sensors may be bad or needing a new battery.

 

The TMPS light will illuminate if the air pressure is low or what I believe is your case, if the TMPS sensors have not been programmed for the vehicle. My advice since these are a spare winter set is to leave it as is because when you switch wheels again in the spring you will need to have the TPMS sensors reprogrammed again. Nissan/Infiniti do not do this for free.

 

yea that's what i figured. I'll talk to them to get them to put it on anyway.

yup, i found out that they haven't been reprogrammed yet. Any idea what infiniti charges for this? it can't be that much right? I was at the dealer yesterday but completely forgot to ask...

I wouldnt bother getting them programmed if these are only your winter wheels, otherwise you will have to pay to have your summer TPMS sensors reprogramed in the spring.

 

Price of reprogram of TPMS depends on the local rate of the Nissan/Infiniti retailer. The Nissan retailer here in Manhattan charges a flat rate of $160/hr, whether you ask them to replace a wiper blade or replace a thermostat. Reprograming would be $160 and is only available on special appointment only here. Only the supervisor is allowed to operate the Nissan computing tools.

In Alabama, the rate to reprogram is $60. Sometimes they may do it for free from what I've read.

 

Also, hub centric rings come in all sorts of inner and outer diameters. If you ordered those wheels specifically for your vehicle, then Tire Rack would give you the right size hub centric rings for your specific wheel and vehicle. However, I have seen them providing customers with the wrong sized hub centric rings.
