spring pre-load for coilovers
spring pre-load for coilovers
For the adjustable coilovers (i.e. Tein Flex) how much pre load is being applied on everyone's set up?
What's a good rule of thumb on spring pre load, if any?

Re: spring pre-load for coilovers
This is just my opinion (I'm not implying you don't know what you are doing) but if I didn't exactly know what I was doing and I had higher end full coilovers like the Flex, JIC FLT-A2 I would bring it to a race/tuner shop and have the coilovers tuned by a suspension guru who has race experience. It really makes a huge difference whether you want a race setup or a more civilized street setup.

Re: spring pre-load for coilovers
I dont know the exact number but preload definitely depends on your setup. If your running a more streetable damping and spring stiffness setup, then you dont want a lot of preload because of the excessive bump rebound you would experience. However, if your susp. is extremely stiff and you ran high shock pressures, then excessive preload would not affect your rebound too much.
