Just wanted to get some feedback from you all regarding replacement tires for the OEM 18s. The only one I could find for the standard configuration (225/45/18 and 245/45/18) is the Yokohama EVS….anybody tried these, if so can you give me some feed back ?

Also, considering going to an (245/40/18 and 255/45/18) since there seems to be much more to choose from in these sizes. Looking at the Yokohama db S2 or Kuhmo AVX all seasons ? Have any of you all tried either of these and if so what can you recommend ?

Any other recommendation besides these would be much appreciated.

 

I bought a set of Bridgestone Potenza S03s in the stock sizes. They have been free of problems for the first 3K with no sign of uneven wear unlike the original Michelins.

 

I have the Yokohama AVS db tires on my other car. They are pretty good. Nice and grippy, pretty quiet, and decent snow grip. Nice price too. I got pretty good mileage out of them, considering they are a Z rated tire. I put on about 40,000 miles on them so far, and they look to be good for another 5,000 - 7,000 miles. (I drive pretty spiritedly too)

I looked on TireRack, and noticed that both the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season and the Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires are rated with better Dry/Wet/Snow grip than the Yokohamas. The Michelins are a bit pricey, so I might lean towards the Pirellis... When I bought my rims, the 245/40-18 were on backorder, so I got the Michelin Pilot Sport All Seasons. (Won't arrive until sometime in december tho...)

 

You've chosen the correct size tires to replace the stockers. The new setup should give you a little more neutral handling car. IMO, the Dunlop SP9000s offer the best ratio of cost to performance.

The 9000 is a nice tire, but does not have the performance that you'll get from a PZero Rosso, Falken 451, Goodyear F1 GS-D3, ContiSport contact2, Pirelli Nero, Toyo T1S and a few others. The 9000 is a good tire, but not quite as good as some others. Cost is right up there with the rest of them.

I agree. Ive used SP9000's in the past thinking that they
would grip as well as their SP8000's, but they didn't.

The GS-D3's are very good tires for street. Alittle softer
on the sidewalls vs S03's, but wet/dry grip is about
equivalent.. plus they are wide tread with bold shouders
so they are much wider (like S03's Azenis, etc).
