Wheel Refinishing

So I bought the car in 2009 and the wheels were etched (like many others seem to be) due to the previous owner driving through a car wash or who knows what. Now the front two wheels have paint overspray from when I had some work performed on the front end and I tried to get some of it off and removed some of the paint/clear coat from the wheels.

To top it off this week I was hit in the rear passenger side and that wheel is now messed up a little bit.

So to my question...will getting my wheels refinished bring the wheels back to a stock look (I assume they strip the wheel completely, fix any curbing, repaint them, then reclear them? I have no clue). I didn't know if I could have all four wheels refinished for the price of what the rear wheel would cost the insurance company.

I have the stock 18" wheels and that's the look I like/want but didn't know if refinishing is what I needed or powdercoating. I can post some pictures of what they look like tonight.

Also any suggestions of who to send them to? Since the car will be in the shop for a week or so I figured as good a time as any to get them refinished. I live in nowhere Kentucky so I imagine they will need to be shipped off.

Most of the time, they do not strip the wheels, they repair and repaint. . . something you could possible do yourself with a little bondo, paint and time.

So they would paint over the clear that is already on the wheel?

I would not attempt to repair my wheels...I barely trust myself to hang up pictures in my house.

truthfully, oem 18" doesn't cost that much, wouldn't make much sense spending so much to fix it. i think you're better off just finding a better set locally, and just switch off the better ones for yourself, and sell the ones you don't like
