general tire question

Hi, I have original Goodyear RSAs that came with my G35. The car has 26,800 miles, and the tires have 6/32 tread life left. The car is 4 years old. I've noticed lots of cracks where the sidewall meets the tread or the driving surface of the tire but more concerned about cracks in the middle of the sidewall that goes the entire circumference of the tire. And this is the case in all 4 tires. Guess the tires are suffering from cold Chicago winters and hot summers, causing dry rot.

Do I need to replace the tires or is it still safe to drive with these as they are?

I would recommend swapping them out, most tire shops won't even mount tires with cracked compounds.

Running on borrowed time really. Cracks are due to the rubber compound drying out and/or blunt force trama. Time to replace them.

Hi Neal. I tried to call you but you weren't available so spoke to someone else and ordered the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinums. Got it installed at your facility last Friday afternoon. The tires seems to wobble a bit when cold and the wobble goes away once the tires have warmed up. Also noticed that it's slightly unstable at highway speeds with the need to make constant small corrections. Since I only have about 200 miles on the tires, I'm hoping these will go away once the rubber sets in. Otherwise, the tires are very quiet and comfortable. Was pleased with the installation at TireRack.
