question about Volk wheels
A local tire shop knicked up 4 of my wheels. So to clarify I before they repaired it, I wanted to know if they are polished + clear coated or anodized? Or just plain polished. They are the SF Winnings (In gold if that makes any difference). Thank you so much

I also thought so too. Went to to Discount Tire and he called Mackin Industries (or so he said) and talked to the first guy who picked up the phone and asked. The answer was polished. Can someone verify this? He also asked if they were clear coated, and the person on the phone said no. Ive googled it and got nothing but junk, someone please clear this up for me!

Nothing like information straight from the horse's (or builder's) mouth.

I believe they are polished with clear coat... I have seen some where people have used a wheel cleaning chemical and the lips clear coat peeled off... I know my GTS were polished.
Unless they are an aftermarket polish, they are not raw and are POLISHED.
Unless they look a little tinted, then they are anodized and clear coated, but it's not very common with Volk.
Regardless, that shop just knicked themselves a hefty refinish bill on your lips, the whole lip needs to be stripped and polished.

Did the shop accept full responsibility and guarantee that they would have them fixed? I hope so, because that is going to be a fine repair bill...

Yes Discount Tire has assumed all responsibility to fix them
My issue is that now he has said they are only polished, no clear and not anodized. I dont want them to coming back raw polished. I guess ill have to look up Mackin's number myself and call them. I just wanted to get your insight hoping someone would have a definitive answer.

IIRC, they come anodized. Im looking to get my winings done again and i plan on polishing it and clear coating it after. I would not accept anything less since i doubt theyll be able to anodize them.
My GTC's were anodized. Went thru a similar situation. I finally settled on having them polished. They cannot be re-anodized. Volk uses a patented process that cannot be duplicated by anyone I could find. Good luck to you. My polished barrels look great when they are clean, but take a lot of work to keep them that way.

Man, thats what makes me worry. If discount tire was on the phone with a rep, why wouldnt they know this lol. I know its not my money involved, but if they start the process of repairing the wheel and find its anodized, wouldnt it cost them more money?
CALex how do you polish your wheels now? Ive heard you should polish once a month. If so after this long process is completed ill def take better care of the wheels lol.

Couldnt find a number to contact Mackin, could someone with better google skills help me out? I get a lot of trash in my searches. Also would calling a vender/business that I bought the wheels from be any better? Thanks

Pepper what made u decide chrome over polished (or polished and clear). Pricing? Do you have pictures of your fixed wheels? My choices are between polished and clear or chromed. Please fill me in!
