Wheel Locks

Just purchased '03 Sedan for our little girl. Great car....but totally forgot to purchase wheel locks. Does anybody recommend Gorilla locks, or should I just purchase from the dealer? And what size? The bay area is pretty notorious for having their cars on factory jacks on the next morning. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Wheel Locks

I'd go with one that requires an actual key to open. Gorilla locks are too common. My friends wheels got stolen and he had 2 different gorilla locks on each wheel.

Re: Wheel Locks

I got mine at the dealership which charged me around $32 bucks which is well worth it. Infiniti has the McGard wheel locks that looks like washers stacked on top of one another. To me, it looks pretty weak. My Infiniti dealership gave me McGard wheel locks that were used on my 1991 300ZX which look much more stronger. The label on the package had Nissan on it. I know, they're the same company and obviously use the same size wheel studs.

Re: Wheel Locks

I have the Gorilla's on every nut. Thats the way the package came. The warning I got was that the key tends to strip and then you can't get them off yourself-need impact gun. I would like something with a key but that could be center punched so who knows what to use. Take a chance, something is better than nothing.

Re: Wheel Locks

Acutally, you're right. More like 7 mins because he had to open the package. At least I got a free Infinity water bottle. Nonetheless, I'll score high on their survey. They are sooooooooo much better than Toyota and Ford.

Re: Wheel Locks

The dealer has no shame in charging for little things like that. One time I was getting a free scheduled maintenance oil change on my bmw and asked them to go ahead and put my piaa bulbs in for the high beams. They went ahead and put them in and presented me with a $70 bill......

Re: Wheel Locks

Always get a quote first, before you say, "Do it."

Did the 60k mile service on the Jeep a month ago. They recommend you do a few extra things beyond what the maintanence schedule calls for. I refused. It was still about $500, would have been $900.

No tools available, and I said go ahead since I was on my lunch hour....Oh well, maybe next time I'll be little more patient.

Re: Wheel Locks

The delars should be shot for charging $60 to install wheels locks. I did mine last night and it took less than 10 minutes. My dealer wanted $120 ($60 for the locks and $60 for labor) to install them. I paid $28 online.
