GSD versus F1 GS-D3 versus Potenza RE040

My factory Goodyear GSD's in 215/55/17 are approaching replacement, and I wanted opinions regarding my options (I will keep the factory 17 x 7 rim).

I want a high performance summer tire that will last at least 15,000 miles, and leverage my Tein Basics suspension performance.

Right now, I'm debating among:

OEM Goodyear GSD in 215/55/17

Goodyear F1 GS-D3 in 225/50/17

Bridgestone Potenza RE040 in 225/50/17

I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks

My local dealer can get them for $182 a piece. Please put price aside when considering my question; tire cost is a non-issue for me.

Good question- I would like to know myself. I will certainly stay away from the Bridgestones. The Bridgestone treadwear rating is 140. That is less than the stock GS-D tires. They also don't get a very good rating ....

The GS-D3s on the other hand get a great rating....

My additional question is: Has anyone tried these yet?...

I'm debating between the GS-D3s and the Avons.

GS-D3's are the best option of the tires you listed... and the increased tread width isn't a bad thing either...

i'd choose this tire as well from those you listed. does SO'3's come in this size? I'd get those.

I looked into the SO3s but the closest size available is 225/55-17. With that size the speedo will be off by 1.6%. Going with the GS-Ds in 235/50-17 will make the speedo off by only 0.2%. This is all according to ...

1.6% does not sound like much, but I don't know how it will affect the VCD and I don't want to take the chance.
