Track wheels and tire advice
I picked up a cheap set of OEM 350Z track wheels
Front
Size: 17x7.5
Offset: +30mm
Weight: 23.26lbs
Tire: 225/50/17
Rear
Size: 17x8.0
Offset: +33mm
Weight: 24.14lbs
Tire: 235/50/17
I currently have 19x10 with 265/295 40x19s for every day driving with hankook evo 12s and love them!!
Now for track... these wheels will ONLY be used to drive to the track and then back again..
Continental ExtremeContact DW (street tire rated as good as V12, a little higher and better wear.. but tiny bit more $ and apparently better for track.. than the V12s)
225/45ZR17 91W $129.00 (ea.)
245/45ZR17 95W $133.00 (ea.)
= $524
Hankook ventus R-S3 are more of a semi track tire (made more for track than DD) and not too good in the wet but its not like you go to the track when it rains... but they wear way faster than the Conti DW.
225/45ZR17 94W $128.00 (ea.)
245/40ZR17 91W $144.00 (ea.)
= $544
Any thoughts as to tire type and size?? I will have 400+ RWHP soon if that helps..
Thanks

RS-3 takes my vote.
Also, the DW's aren't that suited for track duty... maybe light duty if anything. They're known really more for being a bit lighter than most tires the same size, quiet and rides more comfortably due to the softer sidewall. I contemplated "upgrading" to them from my V12's, which i DD and do track with, but the reviews i've read seem to favor the V12s more. Don't get me wrong, V12s aren't suited for heavy track use either.
Forgot to mention, you're looking at rather skinny tires. It's easy enough to break loose with just OEM, 400+whp will need some assistance
