Why does everyone go witht he Star configurations

Just curious why everyone who have gotten rim or are thinking about getting rims have gone with the Star type looking rims on the G Coupes. I have yet to see Mesh rims on the G coupes. Do they not look as good as the star type?

Its all about personal preference, but I think the stars envoke sportiness, and the mesh are more of a luxo look.

i love the way a nice mesh wheel looks...especially the BBS RSII. I'm sure I'll take some flack for this, but I really like the look of the old BBS gols wheels with a polished lip. I guess BBS doesn't even offer the gold wheels anymore. They looked badass on a black car.

5 Star setup never really go out of style. They are simple and yet refined in many ways. There are lots of rims out there and some of them are just a trend for a year. Hence the old wagon wheel rims...

I prefer the 'european' look and don't much care for the 5 spoke either, but it's been a pain in the *** finding wheels that are just what I want without them being the wrong size, too expensive, or too cheap (such that they appear on Hondas). There seem to be over twenty 5-spoke styles out there for every one mesh, but I guess that's the market.

Re: Why does everyone go witht he Star configurati

I've seen this discussed on other boards, and soem people say that it makes the car look more aggressive if you have the right kind of 5-spoke wheels.

I am personally tired of 5-spokes, I am only in the market for mesh wheels, but it's the sad truth that good mesh wheels are either nonexistant, hard to find, or made for FWD configurations.

THe only great mesh wheels I have found (and the ones that I have been in love with for many many years) are the ADR M-Classic's.
They remind me of OE Porsche/BMW rims that I used to see everywhere and still sometimes see. But those rims only come in a plain silver finish, no polish, no chrome, and plain silver is not going to look too good.

There is another company that has the _exact_ same wheels as the ADR M-Classics, it's called HP-Design/HP-Racing "Evo" wheel. it's available in polished, and hypersilver, but as of right now it's not available in 18" or in any kind of configuration close to RWD-specs (offset wise). I have been in contact with a distributor of those wheels and he said that _maybe_ in the next month or so they will have the offsets that I need.

Well, thats my opinion.

Before I decided on getting the axis se7ens i was going to go with axis super mesh. they offer different widths so you can have a wider wheel and bigger lip on the rear.

I really love these rims. But since they are HRE, I can't really justify putting these rims on a G35 or dumping that much money on wheels.

The best star type rims I've seen.

I agree with you MOzy, I'm looking for a Mesh rim with a nice polished lip. Have you though about the ADR M Sport? They come in a titanium finish in 18's.

I am actually undecided between the ADR M Sport,Konig Imagine, Axis Supermesh, and the ALT Fusion which Pestilence and Kulase have.

here is the BBS RG-R wheel. Apparently, BBs is starting to make wheels in gold again.they also come in silver. I talked to some company, and they said you could fit 19X8.5 in the front and 19X10 in the rear of a SEDAN without rubbing? sounds kinda tight to me, but also sounds good!!

Re: Why does everyone go witht he Star configurati

All those rims are nice and all, but SUPER expensive, HRE/BBS are $500+ per rim, i'll take some Volks for that much.

I know the coupe should get nothing but the best, but half a grand per rim is kind of expensive on top of the $35k car. I know buying cheap wheels for an expensive car is kind of a "no -no" but that extra $2k can go towards something more productive, like performance mods. To each his own.

I agree with you Mozy.. Not sure about the BBS, but the HRE are $1000 per rim.

Volks aren't cheap either, they are around $500+. I really like the Volks, but I think they are getting played out. To many people have them, I like to be kind of original and get something different.

If you are interested in the Axis Supermesh wheels (which come in staggered sizes up to 20x10's) you should definitely talk to Big_h I believe his name is (look up on past posts) I know he has hooked up other people on the forum with good deals on Axis wheels, and personally, the Supermesh is the best looking mesh wheel out there (esp. for the price) - also, I know the group buy through my350Z.com is offereing IForged Seneka's at something like 40% off MSRP or something crazy like that - but I think it expires on May 1st or sometime around then - check past posts for more info....

I was told by Big_H that the Supermesh only come in 19", that is why I am going with SE7EN MOD 20".
