powder coating is in fact a tougher finish, however most powder coaters do not like to tape off the lip, meaning you would need to disassemble the rims and then get then powdered coated, you can call Olympic powder coating in Santa Ana or Wetworks Garage if you want to paint your rims. Wetworks has been painting rims for years. If you call Wetworks tell him James from Creative Autoworks told you about him.

If you are worried about that process then you might want to just consider liquid painting the rims. If you plan to go this route you can call wetworks and ask for Joe.
Good luck!
