New Tires

So I am in the market for some new tires on my stock rims. Just wanted to know what tires do yall suggest and why? The ones I've been looking into will cost me around $750-$800. Is that normal for all four or too much?

225/45R18
245/45R18

That might be too much. I am not sure but i have to call my guy. I say just use the same size tire on your rim. Should have no problem w/ that

I don't plan on changing the tire size (225/45R18 in the front and 245/45R18 for the back). Those are the tire size that came with the car when I bought it. The tires that i was looking into were the Goodyear Eagle GT, which is the tires that are on the car now

I just picked up the Goodyear eagle gt 235/45R18 from sears sale for less than $500 for a set of 4. I got the V rated ones with 50,000 mile tread warranty. They typically only get like 30k-35k miles out of it so expect a warranty claim on it for proration. I got them for pretty cheap (less than $120 each) and was able to stack multiple codes. Last week sears has buy 3 get 1 free plus $35 off additional along with 6% mr rebates cashback and a bonus $20 store credit (shop your way). Sears currently has $100 off when you buy 4 and you might be able to stack additional $30 off on top and get 6% cashback via mr rebates, 5% via shop discover or chase freedom.

Sears has free mounting and they plan to match a $25 off $50 coupon for labor on balancing. I prefer 235/45R18 since you can rotate them back to front to help extend life. I have tried all different combos of 225, 235,245 and even 255 on the stock 8" wide sport wheels. I would recommend 245/45 all around or 235/45 all around.

Edit: Don't get me started on the free tires and free lcd tv that sears was giving away 3-4 weeks ago on slickdeals. Lolz good times when they were handing out $50 and $100 in store credit for buying $15 in clothes. Make like 10 orders for $15 each and you will get $50 or $100 store credit on each order and cash out all that store credit for anything you want. Deal is dead but many got free tv's & tires.

This........is like asking "what's the best oil?" Everyone will have a different opinion, as you can tell by now. I've used every name brand quality tire on the market and they've all let me down with the exception of Michelins. Check out www.thetirerack.com You've already made up your mind about sizes so I won't tell you there are better options....Gary

I know everyone has there own opinions about which tires to go with. I just wanted to know which tires yall found to work best, since yall have more experience with the car then I do. If 225/45 and 245/45 is not the best way to go then Im all ears. It does suck not being able to rotate the tires.

The initial sizes look fine for a coupe with 18's. The Eagle GT isn't a bad tire if you don't see any snow. They can be a tad noisy longer on in their life. Bridgestone RE970 and Michelin Pilot Sport AS+ would be a bit nicer options across the board.

I agree with garyc & neal, in my experience the Michelin's work best on G coupe. I've just replaced PS2's, which were fantastic, with Pilot Super Sports. These are expensive, but top rated max perf summer tire. The PS2's not only had great performance, but were long lasting and were quiet even when worn down to the cord! I don't know of any other tire that rides quiet on the G. The Super Sports are supposed to be even better in all respects; although my observation so far is that they seem to ride a little stiffer/have a heavier feel than PS2. The sizes you mention are the correct stock sizes for the stock 18" wheels.

Thanks for all the info but I one more question, will it be ok if I put 235/45 on all four wheels with stock rims?

I am pretty sure the stock sport wheel is 18" and 8" wide. Atelast my sport wheels are 8" wide and the widest tire that will WEAR properly is 245. You can make a 255 fit but since the tire is so wide the middle will have much more contact and wear out before the edges. Stick with 235/45 or 245/45 all around. I personally went with 235/45-18 all around and have no issues. I decided on 235/45 since the tire was available in the size I wanted, I can rotate them front to back since it is no longer staggered. The specific tire I wanted due to the sale pricing in the 245/45 series had no tread wear warranty due to W rated versus 235/45 was V rated and had 50,000 mile warranty. I can take pictures later on showing you 235/45-18 all around on 18" sport wheels with Z/G springs on tokico sport shocks.

Edit: Keep in mind. I drive a 2005 G35 6mt Sedan with sport package.
