Going to buy a 2005 6MT Sedan, and I'm wondering if anyone knows if 16in steel wheels will fit over the brakes? Tirerack.com says that they will, although I have heard that they won't, does anyone know for sure?

Thanks.

shook, I think we might have discussed this before, but I would almost bet that on 2005 models the 16" rims will only fit on the G35X, and will not fit on the regular sedan or coupe. My reason for saying this is the G35X has 11.7" front discs and the G35 Sedan/Coupe have 12.6" front discs, so the 16" rims will not clear the bigger calipers on the front discs.
If I am wrong hopefully someone here will correct me.

cru-He wants them for the winters, but I know I was going to get steelies then I couldn't do that to my G, I went with 16" Alloys and snows. It is a lot cheaper, you have more selection and works well with more sidewall but same OD in the snow. They don't look as good as the bigger wheels, but it is for winter and they perform fantastically Here is a pic with my 16"ers

Ahhhh, I see. Being from Cali, I don't have the snow tire mentality, LOL. The 16's look better then I thought they would.

I tell you, there are lots of times lately, that I wish I was in a warmer location like Cali. I was out for a few hours today and my G is covered in salt and slush from the roads. We can't give our rides a REAL good cleaning till spring.
I have driven through snow this year that is up to the bottom of the doors. Thank goodness for the X
