I have the stock oem 19 rays and on the front right side is 225/40/19 but on the front left side is 245/45/19. Is this ok to drive?

 

I would only run those different sizes in an emergency, like on the way to your local tire store! Using 245s on the front is normal just not with a 225 on the other side. No, not recommended!

I second Gary's answer. Can't be good for the handling dynamic of the car, wonder how they got that way.

 

How bout putting that one 225 in the rear and bringing the 245 up top to have the 2 front match?

 

Mismatched sizes?!?!?! No way! Get at least one new tire to keep the sizes matching, tire sizes should never differ in this kind of situation.

 

245/40 is the stock REAR tire size for Coupe Rays. Are you sure some asshat didn't put the rear wheel on front by mistake?

 

Both rears are also 245s but what would happen if the 2 front is mismatched? It's the same height but different width what's wrong with that

 

225/40/19 and 245/45/19 aren't even close to being the same height- there is an inch and a half difference in diameter and the sidewall is an inch off.

Front to back I understand provided the rears are taller by a margin but side to side should be the same profile.

 

Even if the width is the only difference, they aren't the same diameter. Stop playing cheap with your car and get it fixed, or else get rid of this car for something you can actually afford.

 

How about putting the proper sized tires where they're supposed to be

 

^^^Agreed put on the correct sized tires and be done with it..mitchmatched tires are for demolition derby cars..

 

our traction system will freak the heck out if one side spins different than the other, it can tolerate difference between front and rear.
So if you need to run different sizes (which we all do) difference should be only between front and rear not left and right.
One axle should have same size tires on it, no matter if it's emergency or not.

I've had that done to me when a friend didn't realize that our cars are staggered and did something similar.... The moment I realized.... wheels came off sooo fast...

But yeah... please dont..

 

How about different brands?? Bfgoodrich on my rears 285/30/20 and Bridgestone 255/30/20 in the front? As long as the pair are the same size?
