2003 Sedan Sport Susp - Toyo Proxes TPT?

The OEM Goodyear Eagles are getting thin on thread at 27,000 miles and we're looking for a new set in the OEM size (215/55/R17 for Sport Susp). Was suprised to find that staying OEM resulted in a rather limited selection!

I've searched the forums for Toyo Proxes TPT, which offers the OEM size, but haven't come across anyone using this tire; have seen other Toyo Proxes mentioned, but not this one, so sorry if this is a FAQ, but I didn't find it.

I'd like to stay with the OEM size - I know a lot of you have gone up to 225 and 235, but I'd like to stay with the original engineering specs - I figure they came up with them for a reason.

Does anyone have any direct knowledge of these tires? We're looking for good traction (at least as good as the original Goodyears), but hoping to get longer tread life (Toyo says 65K on these).

Thanks,

Ben

The TPT is an all-season tire, thus being able to give long treadlife. It is not going to have as good traction as the Goodyear Eagle GSD's when pushing the car closer to the limits. It's just a fact, summer tires have softer compounds that will give better traction. If you don't really push your car and treadlife is your main concern then the TPT's should work just fine for your needs.

Thanks for the additional insight! We never exceeded the capacity of the OEM GY Eagle RSA's on our 2003 Sedan.

Ah, you had the RSA's and not the GSD's. In that case, good choice in switching to something else!
