Running Reverse Stagger

Would it cause issues with VDC to run OEM rays reversed with the 245/40s up front and 225/40s out back?

Uhh yeah that is not a good plan. Always Always Always wider (or even, never negative) wheels in back on a RWD.

I would hope your next tire setup is square. As for the wheels, you can swap them around.

Not the best idea for handling, clearance, and VDC issues.

So instead of getting new rear tires you just want to swap front to rear?

What tires? if they have symmetrical tread, you can possibly swap across vs front / back

And this is the reason you run a square setup on a street car. Because REAL life happens.

Are the stock 17s "square." Front and rear tires are different sizes.

Why not get the proper items to stop the tire wear issues?

The stock 18's are the same size and I run P245/45ZR18 on all 4. No worrys about tire wear due to not being able to rotate, or needing to swap tires on rims. Just unbolt, rotate, re-bolt. Simple, easy and inexpensive. But each to their own. My preference is that form follows function. Others prefer the other way around.

I'm going to run a square setup next. This is why I'm doing this, so I can wear out the 225s faster.

To be perfectly honest....I want to slide my car around a little and don't want to destroy the rear tires.

I have all the proper items to stop the tire wear. The rears just get chewed up MUCH faster than the fronts.

I'm not going to be doing this all the time, just one or two weekends.

If you plan to drive the car hard this is not a great idea. Handling will be compromised since you're asking the car to do something it wasn't designed for and that's a dangerous concept when you're pushing it hard.
