19x8.5 et22...looking for no rubbing tyres..help

19x8.5 et22...looking for no rubbing tyres..help

Hey all, need some help. Bought some wheels off of Greekboy115 (great guy to deal with) on here and they look awesome but am having rubbing issue. The wheels are 19x8.5 et22 and currently have 245/40R19's mounted. My car has KYB Excel and Eibach Prokits on all around which isn't that aggressive at all but the offset is the culprit for the rubbing. Thinking of 225/35 or 235/35's but am unsure if this is enough to clear? Not sure if I want to go as narrow as 215 or sidewall height down to 25 from 35 but that's why I'm here asking for assistance. Also would getting a tire that stretches more round vs. square help the situation at all? Any input is much appreciated.

Great Deal? Not if they're totally wrong for your ride!

The 19X8.5 rim size shouldn't have rubbing issues unless you have major low offsets! Only thing you could do is have the fenders pulled and the inside lip flattened! Only a body shop or if you live in SoCal we have members more than qualified to do the job! No, you don't want to run smaller tires than you're currently running!!!

Yeah I think I'm going the route of fender rolling after doing more research. It's also going to be the cheaper option. I really don't want to get smaller tires for better ride quality but according to tirerack the tires I have are already too wide at 245. They calculate 225/40 for 19" wheels for my car when shopping for tires. So who knows.....if the fender roll still doesn't eliminate rubbing I'm back to square one.

What are your offsets? Is that the "et22" number in your first post? If it's a 22 offset, that's low.

I had 235/45 R18s with a +44 offset on my sedanX. That offset had them out nicely to the corners without spacers, but with no risk of rubbing.

+22 offset and they rub like crazy. Any amount of suspension travel and the rubbed.

Just get the rear quarter panels rolled and you should be good. +22 isn't really low for an 8.5" wheel, that's basically the equivalent of stock 19" rays with a 25mm spacer on the rear, and that comes with a 245/40R19 tire stock! I have 285/30/20 on a 10.5" +15 rear wheel for my summer setup, rolled the rear and don't rub at all.

I never go by tirerack recommendations, they're always too conservative.

Is this a coupe or a sedan though?

Consider asking the seller of those wheels (that were such a good deal) if they'd trade you wheels that actually fit your sedan! Quite possibly cheaper than doing all the work needed to make the rims fit...if they ever will!

^^^You've got a couple of options but they're limited because you drive an AWD sedan. +22 even on an 8.5" rim can only work with some negative camber no matter how much you roll/flatten your fenders, it's just too aggressive. That's going to cause you to have to get adjustable front A arms, rear camber arms and rear toe bolts to get your alignment to a point your new set up won't destroy tires quickly. This isn't going to be cheap. Don't go to a 225 tire to try to fix this issue, not a good idea at all plus you'll be spending money where you don't need to.

If you really like the wheels then go the adjustable parts route, or sell those wheels and buy a set that will fit better. Your choice.........
