Refinishing Infiniti Factory wheels - sandblast plastic coating off?

I saw a post about this a few years ago, the factory wheel paint is done on my wheels. I am going to sandblast/fix curb rash, prime and paint the wheels. The thing that concerns me is there is a thick 1-2mm layer of plastic under the paint and over the aluminum.

Who has done this, any tips? I could chemically strip them I am sure. I could use aircraft stripper etc. I just wanted some insight if anyone had any on prepping.

Any help will be appreciated.
