Replacing Brembos

I'm getting my 03 6MT Coupe checked at 35K miles and the service dealer is telling me my rear pads are down to 2 mil and the fronts are down to 3. Instead of just replacing the pads he is saying that the rotors and pads must be replaced for a total of about $2400. Is this normal? Are there any aftermarket options I should consider? I've been happy with the Brembos, but this seems a bit extreme for a normal brake replacement.

Thanks for any help.

Ask him for the minimum thickness of the rotors and what each of yours are at. If they are still within spec and have some room to turn the rotors, then you should not need to change out the rotors.

There should be plenty of aftermarket options for the rotors and pads. I may look to swap to something like Stillen's 2-piece rotors when it's time to swap rotors. The liners are much cheaper than the full rotors from Infiniti/Nissan. Not to mention lighter overall weight, and I believe Stillen's use a floating design.

um doesn't seem right, if you do need to replace the rotors and pad it shouldn't cost you more then like $700-$1000.00 depending on what specific rotor they use, I really dont know if there is a direct replacement for those rotors or if its only Infiniti made. But your calipers should be just fine. I think you should try another dealership!

brake job cost

My dealer charged me about $700 for a brembo brake job. $2400 is way too excessive.

that's way expensive... you should just order online for like brembo cross drilled replacements and Hawk HPS low dust pads...that should be less than 1000. I think.

The pads are less than $200 from Tire Rack. I just checked mine at 26k and I have 7 mil left on the fronts.
