235/40/18 front tires and 265/35/18 rear tires...

Will this fit on the OEM 18" performance tire and wheels for the Infiniti G35 Coupe.

Mine is a 2004 G35 Coupe with the performance tire and wheel package (18"), automatic, not lwoered.

255 is the maximum width recommended on an 8" rim by all tire mfrs that I'm aware of. Some people have gone larger and claim no problems which may be true. However, keep in mind that anything larger than 255 mounted on an 8" rim (if not recommended by the mfr) will void your tire warranty and may also cause headaches if you try to enact other warranties on your vehicle if you encounter suspension problems or the like.

What LUV said was true, but in addition, you'd kill the stagger, and have essentially the same tire/wheel OD front to back. You would also have the tire/wheel combo OD smaller at both ends than stock, so you would have large gaps front to rear. Use 245/40/18 in front and 255/45/18 in back to maintain the stagger and be able to use the widest tires you can with the stock wheels

What lowrider said is true too. I knew the stagger was off, but it was so early in the morning when I replied, I didn't feel like bothering mentioning that too.

So basically if I did go with the 265/35/18 it would work but it would throw off the stagger?

Will this screw up the way the car drives? I don't drive the car hard.

Well, not to patronize, but even your 145/95/16 spare tire will "work", but as far as performance goes, it's not really a set up that the car is intended to have if you expect good performance in the long run.

If you've spent good money on this car, it would be shame to risk anything by mounting a tire/wheel set up "on the cheap." Obviously these cars are not cheap, and replacing tires, brakes, mufflers, etc. are not cheap either, but that's part of the deal if you want to own this type of car.

If you can't afford the right tires brand new, you may be better off trying to find some used ones (of proper size) with good tread left on ebay or in the marketplace of this forum. Just my $0.02.

hahah I work for Infiniti. I can get the tires cheap. I just want thicker tires. My cousin has 19" wheels and he put the thickest possible tires you can....it looks real mean. I just have this thing about seeing my car from behind and right now the tires seem narrow to me.

I just want it to look thicker.

Do you work for a dealer? If so, please feel free to ask your service guys about what you're looking to do. I'd be interested to here what they have to say. These guys should definitely know about the front to rear stagger.

As for "thicker" tires, if you mean wider, then there's nothing wrong with going wider. Some members in this forum have 285's on their Gs! But they also have the right rim for them. You need at least a 9" wide rim to mount a 275 width tire. And a 9.5" for a 285.

My car is exactly the same as yours... 04 coupe AT with 18" wheels not lowered... yet.

I'm planning to go wider as well, but I won't use an 8" rim unless I plan on settling for a 255.
