suggestions for winter rims

I am starting to look for winter rims/tires. I have a new 2004 6MT sedan with 215/55/17's. How good is the quality of the OEM rims? Should I keep those as my summer rims and put on 235/50/17's when I need new tires? I don't plan on putting 18"s or spending a ton of $$. I know tirerack has a 16" deal for steel rims and tires but I would prefer an alloy. If the oem rims aren't that great, I might put the snows on them and get new summer rims. any suggestions/thoughts?
thanks

Quality? It's a rim. It'll last. It's probably heavier than aftermarket stuff you can find.

I'd base that decision off of personal taste and personal budget. If you find something you like better than stock, use the stock rims for winter. If not, get some cheap rims for winter.
