Re: Look good?
Your contributions are welcomed by me. It would be nice if some computer-automotive minded genius would devise a site where one could transfer picture overlays for a variety of wheel sizes, and tires to a G35.
Re: Look good?
Am I the only one who thinks chrome wheels look nicer than the same wheel when painted? That would be a good poll-post for somebody(who has much more computer savy than me). Given the same wheel, which looks better chrome or painted? If not chrome, and everybody feels this way, why do dealers charge $1700.00 more if you want chrome wheels on your G35? Why do aftermarket wheels cost more in chrome? Anybody got any responses?

Re: Look good?
Chrome plating is an expensive process due to the chemicals and other materials involved. Also, much has been written on the environmental impact of the chroming process waste products. Chrome wheels are heavier than non-chrome wheels as well, though I'm not sure by how much.
Re: Look good?
I'm sure weight is an "issue" for some people, but chrome wheels can't possibly be that much heavier! Taking the total weight of the car in consideration, shouldn't we all drive around with a 1/8 of a tank of gas? Or maybe leave your spare tire at home. Maybe eat a salad instead of a king size burrito for lunch
? I can understand the enviromental aspect, but even that is a stretch, given the impact cars have on the enviroment as a whole. If someone felt that strongly about it, they'd be riding a bike to work!

Re: Look good?
Actually, it's unsprung weight that you want to keep at a minimum, it's one of the main reasons that the suspension components are aluminum. Of course, if you go to larger wheels, the weight usually increases as well, but the tradeoff is better handlling response. Forged wheels are usually stronger and lighter than cheaper cast wheels. If you like the looks of chrome, no reason not to get them, however, many things to consider.
Re: Look good?
All this is really good information, and would really be pertinent if we were talking about a race car setup, or even autocrossing a production road car. But there isn't a guy on this board that would be able to tell the difference between a 14 lb. wheel and a 20 lb. wheel while driving his luxury/sport sedan to the grocery store...Are you saying that those who don't like chrome wheels don't like them because they are heavy, or because the way they look? Maybe both? I just don't get it...
