G35C Nismo S-tune kit impressions
G35C Nismo S-tune kit impressions
I've installed the G35 Nismo S-tune shock, spring, and sway bar kit made for the G35 coupe and I'd like to share my impressions.
The kit went in easy enough and could be done in a day or less. I was lucky and the front springs and shocks were assembled.
Followed the instructions that I found on the sister 350Z forum. They were well written and with some really nice pictures
The kit dropped the car at least 20 mm (3/4") and with the wider Nismo wheels it looks great. But in some ways I'm wishing it was lower, so I figure I must have caught the "lower it till it scrapes" virus ..... cure unknown
The camber on both front and back are out and with a noticeable slant. Looks aggresive and ready to race.
The alignment shop used alignment specs from ALLDATA and they have such a wide range, that I wonder why I bothered to align it. Plus I didn't stick around and don't really know if they did it properly or not. I know better for next time after I install the EVO camber arm and SPC bolts and realign, I'll provide the specs to use and stick around.
My driving impressions are that the suspension is a little harsher riding but not enough to make a real difference. The car seems to handle better in the corners but is that the agressive wheel camber or the sway bars? Not really pushing it hard till the tires break in a bit more and the camber is corrected.
Overall, I would go a different route, next time and perhaps find a stiffer setup with a adjustable sway bar. I wouldn't mind having another 1/2" drop but would have a minor concern with the rear tire and fender clearance with anymore drop than that. I just may try the set of 350Z Nismo springs with either Koni or Tokico shock setup, only because I have the springs laying around and I'm sure there are better options out there.
More to follow.

nice job on the install and comments.
And you're doing the right thing by not taking the car to the limit yet.
I would give it a good 200miles or so to let the dampers and springs break in.
It takes a while before you get the full potential of most aftermarket
dampers. typically there are a lot of air bubbles from transit and it feels distorted.
It was the same way with my D-specs. It felt good in the beginning, but now it
feels even better now.
Let us hear from you again in about a month.

This suspension is GREAT for people that want a little stiffer than stock and a lowered look. It lowered about 3/4" and has the Nismo name ....... but like I said I want more.
Personally, this suspension kit would be great for a sedan G35 to bring up the suspension to a G35 coupe level. I believe the drop would be around 3/4 to 1" and would bring the sedans overall handling to a coupe's level and still have a comfortable ride. The bonus is with the Nismo product, you are able to have the factory alignment and still maintain your warrenty.
As a result, I'm going a different direction and will be selling the complete Nismo G35 suspension kit. I highly recommend it for a sedan owner that wants better than average handling, a lowered look and still maintain a comfortable ride with a factory warrenty.

The Nismo kit will ride better and I don't believe a camber kit will be required. (I reserve the right to be corrected, in my assumptions at a later date) The bonus part is that some dealers will maintain the factory warrenty. (mine does) The ride when installed in the coupe was reasonable and it did corner well enough. I'm sure the Nismo s-tune will be spetacular in a sedan with a noticable improvement. I've driven both a coupe and a sedan. IMHO the sedans handling is no where near a coupes ability in a side by side comparision and would benefit the most from a s-tune kit install.
I will have pictures to show later.
