Requirements to Lower Sedan
Requirements to Lower Sedan
Hello everyone,
I'm real interested in adding several exterior modifications in the next 2-3 months that include lowering, body kit, and rims/tires. I wanted to start by asking you guys with experience on the lowering of sedans if what I have listed is what I need. I've already searched and hit up a lot of threads that I deemed helpful and learned a lot.
The most trouble I'm having is what EXACTLY needs to be done, and what would be the best way to install? The Dealer charged me $1100 total I believe for the Eibach kit, camber kit, alignment, and installation. I was very shocked by the quote, that is really expensive. I might as well go with coilovers if I'm going to do that. But anyways here is my list.
Eibach Pro-Kit Springs = $200-$220
Tokico D-spec Shocks = ???
Camber kit = $150??
Installation = ???
I'm not sure if I need the camber kit or if the place I install it at can do that and the alignment fine without it. Also, what would be a good place to install it, I would prefer a dealer but they're so expensive. I actually know a "car guy" but I'm pretty sure he just knows the generals of installing springs + such, nothign specific about my car. So he might not get the camber / alignment done right.
Installing it myself is pretty much out of the question, the time required, cost of tools, and the fact that I'd probably hurt myself doing it makes me want to find a good installer.
Is there anyone from the DFW area that would be willing to lend a hand?
Thanks!

honestly i can't say, i havent's priced out those components and it would depend on the hourly rate in your area, but based on internet pricing it looks like you're paying somewhere in the range of 300ish for labor.
1100? WAYYY overpriced. i would recommend asking in your regional forum for help. i got eibach springs, new rims, and hotchkis sway bars installed for 150 at elegant autosports in socal. you really should not pay more than 300-400 dollars for your install
ahgahpeh, your install price is what I was looking for, but with your springs did you add any shocks or anything? Did they make sure everything was aligned and stuff? I'll look around at some of the car shops around here. Thanks!
DO NOT pay $1,100 for an install. That's horsesh*t!
If you lower your sedan more than an inch you will probably have negative camber in the front. Your rear should be fine up to about 1.5" lowered. Do you HAVE to correct the negative camber? No, that is if you're fine with uneven tire wear. If you decide to correct your camber you will be paying considerably more the $150. Good camber adjustable a-arms will run you $850.
My suggestion to you would be 1)Buy the springs and shocks. 2)Find a reputable tire/wheel/suspension shop locally that can do the install. 3)Have an alignment done and see where you are at.
