Instructions for changing springs
Re: Instructions for changing springs
It's basically like the Zs setup. I don't think anyone here has detailed instructions on how to do it but it does take some time if you do not have the correct tools.
I think it's best to take it to a shop and have it done for like 80 bucks. That's what I did and it saves time and hassles. It's worth the 80 bucks.

Re: Instructions for changing springs
Agree, better to bring it to the shop. Not sure, cause I didn't check, but you will probably need air tools to take out the bolt on top of the strut.
In general from what I remember when I use to lower cars is:
1. Remove screws attached to the strut housing in the hood area
2. Remove any brake line fasteners
3. Remove bolt from bottom of strut.
4. Pull out strut
5. Use air tools to remove big bolt on top of strut and the spring will pop out. You might want to use a spring compressor so you don't have all bolts, bushing, and washers flying out.
The rear is easy to do, basically the same. The hard part is might have to remove the back panel in the car to get to the screws of the shock. Unless the G35 shocks and springs are seperate, then you can skip that step and just have to unscrew the scew at the bottom of the shock. You might also have to mess with the rear sway bars to give more leway to remove the springs.

Re: Instructions for changing springs
On a stock height spring, I would not advise just unbolting the top bolt and allowing the spring to "pop out". While I've never taken one off a G, this is generally not recommended on any car. Use a spring compressor to relieve the pressure on the upper strut assembly before loosening the big bolt. You risk serious injury if you don't compress the spring first.

Re: Instructions for changing springs
I'm not a moron. I know about the compression tool... Anyway, I was looking for steps for this particular car. I don't know where you live, but here in Atlanta they want 375-450 to put springs on this car. I'm going to ask to Z guys!
Re: Instructions for changing springs
$375~400! Man, for that price they might as well upgrade your Flux Capacitor to a Mr. Fusion. Installation for springs should only cost labor. From $65~120 if that.
