feel stupid asking this, but....
... when you up-grade your wheels, you'd have to up-grade your tires accordingly, meaning the thickness of the side-wall has to be taken into consideration, correct????
... If so, then what thickness is recommanded for the tires with 18'' rims in order to preserve the over-all diameter of the stock wheels??? I was told this is important because they effect the odometer, the speedometer, and also the traction control......

Re: feel stupid asking this, but....
the stock wheels are 215/55/17. the diameter of this setup is 26.3 inches. 235/45/18 will give you nearly the exact same diameter, but good luck finding tires in that size, there aren't many. 245/45/18 is a little over 1% bigger, so it's pretty accurate, and it's MUCH easier to find this size. how wide were you thinking of going? let me know if i can be of further assistance...
Re: feel stupid asking this, but....
yeah.... found a site that taught me how to do the cauculations.... and spent 2 hours trying to find 235/45-18s...
the only one I found was a Pirelli... which is pretty good... but only Z rated.... (i know I'm never gonna go over 139 mph, but it's good knowing that I CAN)...
well, is 1% really important...??? or can we just re-configure the speedometer and odometer???

Re: feel stupid asking this, but....
it's almost nothing...you can use this to calculate it...
http://www.volkswagen.org/tiresize.htm
or this

you can do a search and find whichever "chart" works best for you.

Buy the Bridgestone S03's if your a straight baller, newest tire technology in the market and is rated the best tire you can buy for money.
I recommend:
Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position
Front: 225/35-18 YR $170 Max Performance
Rear: 255/35-18 YR $210 Max Performance.
Yes I know its Not stock standard tire size as you can see. But for increased performance I'm buying them when I wear out. Buy +1 wider, +1 lower profile. Increases handling greatly! The most critical thing about suspension is the tires because thats what it rides on. Doesn't matter that much when you have $3000 suspension but using crappy tires. You could out perform that $3000 suspension with $1000 performance tires. But in the thinner profile you sacerfice ride quality and would feel a lot more bumps and etc. Its worth it for me, is it worth it for you? Smoke that E46 M3 in that turn. maybe =)
Show them whats up with the G on your S03's.
