225/50R17 for coupe rear?

Just wondering whether anyone had used 225/50R17 on the coupe's rear? I calculated the difference in diameter to be something like 3.24%, i.e. the car is travelling just over 48mph when 50mph is indicated on the speedo.

I have an extra pair of 225/50R17 snow tires and my 225/55R17 are nearing their end of live so I was wondering whether I can use the 225/50R17 to replace the 225/55R17 next time winter rolls around.

Your input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I can't confirm it, but I would think the VDC system would not be too happy about the diameter difference. I believe it would think that the wheels were slipping all the time due to the smaller rolling diameter, and kick in the VDC.
