I keep seeing these and they look great ...I mean the grill and lettering are chromed, why not the wheels? But where can you get them? I found this website (below) that has them for $199/wheel after a $350/wheel core charge. But I'm afraid of getting anything not from the factory (been burnt on aftermarked parts in the past)...does the dealer/infiniti offer anything? How much? Do they give you a refund on your old wheels?

some people are getting them from the dealer. i don't think they give you any break for your other wheels. have heard the prices are from $1000 - $2000 (this is purchased in lieu of the stock wheels).

 

I saw the same website you're talking about. Wasn't it g35accessories.com? $200 isn't bad if it is a REAL infiniti product with Infiniti warranty on the chroming.

However, if you think about it, you can apply that $800 towards a nice set of aftermarket wheels! OR an exhaust or stereo equipment, etc.

$800 for chroming my current wheels just seemed to me to be a waste, especially with the beautiful finish they already have. I love that paint color.

I ordered from the dealer. $1200 with 3 year warranty. I paid the extra $200 because if I do have a problem with a rim, I just take it to the dealer instead of having to ship it and wait for another one to be sent back. The originals are nice but chrome is sure to get more looks! I will post pics when the car comes in July 28th

 

Aftrbnr....did you order the car with the chrome wheels or did they let you add them on after the car was in the lot with the stock wheels? Did they take back the stock wheels (core replacement) or did you just pay $1200, strait out?

I don't think my '04 order has been entered into the system yet and I'm wondering if I should call my dealer about these wheels or just wait till the car comes in...

 

If you get Chromed wheels at the dealer.. they are not chromed by infiniti. The stock wheels are sent out to a vendor. The dealer then charges you about twice what he payed the vendor to chrome the wheels. In other words, you will save money if you take the wheels directly to a third party vendor yourself. Why give the dealer all that additional profit?

 

True! Chroming your wheels yourself, you'd pay around $150/wheel. Kinda sucks to have to pay double that to get it from Infiniti.

The only thing I worry about is that you don't get YOUR wheels back...you get someone else's used wheels dipped in chrome...probably no big deal but you never know...

 

Justme97- They are a core replacement for $1200 but the dealer holds the warranty so if there is a problem, give them back to the dealer. If you want to spend $150 per wheel plus shipping and send your wheels out for chroming, so much for driving your car while the wheels are being chromed. All of the after market rims that I liked are so expensive. The car looks so good it would be too easy to ruin it with cheap rims. The chrome rims will be on the car when I pick it up from the dealer.......too convenient to pass up!

 

Take a look at these. This is NOT a chromed wheel, but an entirely new process called PermaStar (TM). They cost $185 each and are on OEM 18" wheels. Here are two links which will provide more information about the process:
