How much slower on 20"s?

I was wondering for those of you rolling on 20's, how much did the change affect the performance compared to the stock 18's? I'm really considering 20's but I tend to gun the G around and would like to upgrade the rims while retaining some acceptable level of performance. Performance I mean 0-60, braking, and cornering. Any advice would be appreciated.

DO NOT GET 20's...or at least some luxury chrome types...get yourself some lightweight 19's by volk, or a company that specializes in lightweight racing rims

My guess is that switching from oem 18s/19s to 20s would make 0-60 0.3-0.4s worse.

Unless you are going to put a Turbo or S/C on your car I would not get 20's. It will slow your card own plus throw off your speedo. 20's do look cool though but you have to have more power to turn them. Depends on what you like and how you drive your car.

It apparent none of you have 20's. I have them and I can tell you you will be a little slowewr but NOT MUCH. I switch back to my OEM 128's during the winter and the only difference I feel is that the car feels lighter...IT SHOULD. One the other hand with my 20' Maya's my car still holds the corners and it still pulls hard. I can still leave pavement burn. But the best part is the look it gives the car. Geez even Infiniti decided to move up to 19's on this car for 05. Apparently one more inch is not going to kill your performance all the much. Get your 20's...you won't regret it.

Again depends on you driving style and what you like. Some of us are not willing to give up speed. Take a bone stock G35 with 19's and a bone stock with 20's to the track then come back and tell someone with speed it is ok to give up the time.

To each their own. Really depends on what kind of driver or what he/she wants out of the car.

it still would come down to the driver...but i agree, each on their own...

Not only will 20s be a heavier wheel than 19s, you have to consider the moment of inertia (MOI). If shaving 1lb of unsprung weight is equal to shaving 10 lbs of sprung weight, you can imagine what going from 25lbs (stock 18s) to a 30lb+ 20" wheel will add and don't forget the heavier tires. Going 20" wheels on all four corners can add 200 lbs to your sprung weight. That's the equivalent to driving around with a 200 lb passenger 24/7. I don't know about you guys, but I can feel a performance difference even with my 130 lb fiancee'.

I completely agree with Benji, I went through that mess and it wasn't a easy thing to do. I had 20"s Maido LS5 by MAYA and they looked so nasty, I mean everyone was grilling hard
But I sold them and got the new 19"s “R5” by Racing Hart. You could really feel the difference from before. I went from (+/- 35 pounds) to (+/- 20 pounds) a rim and it really makes a big difference especially if you do Forced Induction, which are in my future plans
So speed or looks
Defiantly looks I didn't lose

Didn't realize the Mayas were so heavy. 35 lbs. just seems insane. I can't wait to switch the oem re050s to t1r tires. 14 lbs. of total weight savings.

This may be a dumb comment so please don't flame...But what about gas mileage? I can't decide between 19's or 20's either but when a friend told me that 20's could possibly affect gas mileage due to the heavier rim it's kinda made me lean towards the 19's. TIA for the input

You will get worse gas milage if the 20's are considerably heavier...but braking
has the biggest effect from my experience. heavy wheels take so much more
to stop.

I agree Jreed. The G ain't no race car and I don't take it to the track. I just drive the car everyday and I think it looks sick. But like it has been said it depends on what you are wanting out of the car, it has so much to offer.

Rollin on 20's and loving it.

I took my car to the LACR bone stock with my 20's and I pulled off a 1/4 mile time of 15. I consider that pretty good. I get good cornering and acceleration. I can still do some mean doughnuts and burnouts. I am a happy camper. Love em
