Hey guys, dont post often but just wanted to let you guys know about a deal I had with this guy. Bought a set of volks and pilot sports from him, originally we had a deal for 2300. After I sent him that amount in paypal, he wanted me to send an extra 70 to cover for the paypal charges, ok understandable. First sign of problems was when he sent me an email right after he shipped the wheels saying that the tires have feathering and that I should rotate the tires. At that point, ok, minor feathering shouldn't be a problem. In our first email he told me that the tires were at 80% so I thought there may be very minor signs of feathering. Here is how the tires looked like when I recieved them. The smaller tires next to them are my front stock tires which have had 17,000 miles on them. (Defenitely worn past 80% tread yet still have a lot more tread than the tires on the volks)




After I put these wheels on, there was a terrible roaring sound 10-50 mph and a lot of vibration in the cabin and steering wheel. I read up on feathering issues on the 350z forums and found out that rotating the tires doesn't make a difference, and also confirmed that with several tire stores. I bought these wheels to replace my current setup so I wouldn't have to worry about buying a next set of tires, but that is what I had to do in the end. I ended up buying a pair of Toyo T1-R's which are considerably cheaper than the pilot sports which the rims came with. I tried to get Leo to help me pay for one of my new front tires and call it even, but he has stopped responding to emails. Not making any accusations that this guy is bad, he shipped out my rims 4 days earlier than originally expected, but just wanted to share the facts about my dealings w/ this guy. If you are planning to buy from this guy, please be careful.

BTW, the first thing you should have done was to have the wheels / tires re-balanced and inspected for plugs, sidewall damage, rim runout, and minor bents on the inside lip of the wheels.

 

You have a legit reason for your post. Those tires are not 80% nor a slight feathering problem (a big problem!!!). He should do the right thing and AT LEAST pay for some of the front tires. Good luck with it. Thanks for the heads up.

 

Yeah his camber was WAY off! He also post's a lot on my350z.com Maybe he will chime in and we can here his side of it.

since you paid by paypal, perhaps they can help you out. i hope you kept all his emails on the state of the wheels and tires before he sold them to you. then, get something from the tire place (preferably notorized) stating the problem with the tires. i think you would have a legitimate case.

but i agree with the other member that you should get the tires balanced. considering how much volks cost brand new, wasn't $2300 close to the retail price? don't even bother factoring in the tires because they were used either way.

 

Sorry you got duped, this guy sounds VERY shady.

There seems to be a rash of losers in SFL that are giving our club a bad name.

XG35driverX (from SFL) was BANNED from G35driver.com and he was BANNED from the FGC for screwing over NOTAZ.

DiamondGCoupe (from SFL) screwed another member of our club, Drewzer, for ~$250 and is walking a VERY FINE LINE and may soon be BANNED from the FGC as well.

This poster SICKG35 is definitely not in our club! Did this matter ever get resolved? I doubt I can do anything to help you out since he's not affiliated with us. I don't know what it is about SFL people. It's either the people are SUPER COOL or they're total scammers (doesn't seem to be much of a middle ground down there).

 

Just for the record.. SickG35 has never even attended a South Florida meet, so no one down here knows him.
