Like I said in the other thread, I really don't think you will get the 16s to fit an 05(only on the X).
The standard 03s had smaller brakes thats why you could put 16s on anything without Brembos, but now the 05s have 12.6/12.1 front and rear brakes. The x's have 11.7/11.3" front and rear so they will accept 16s.

The 04s had a 11.7/11.5 front and rear brakes. The 04s with Brembos (M6 Coupes) had 12.8/12.7 front and rears.

So it is the diameter of the rotor that prevents 16's and not the offet of the rim from the caliper? I was thinking a +42 offset would do the trick but now we are looking more at the diameter of the rotor.

It is the caliper that usually hits because it is clamped over the larger rotor.
I honestly think you are better off looking for a lightwieght 17 that will fit on your 05 .

What brand and model tire are you looking at getting?

Rotors and front calipers are definitely larger on the 05s.
