Tire recommendation
Tire recommendation
I looking to replace the factory 18" michelins but I want to avoid spending ~$900 on new pilots. I don't drive my car hard so I don't think I need/want high performance tires. >90% of my driving is spent on freeways to and from work. So I'm looking for tires with reduced road noise, comfort, and durability. Are there tires with these qualities for much less than the michelins. What's everybodies opinion on Kuhmo, Hankook, Sumitomo, Yokohamas (still kinda pricey)? Do any of these brands have a good reputation (besides the yokohamas)? If you wouldn't consider these brands please chime in on what alternate manufacturer I should look into. My target is spending ~$500 but I don't want to suffer on an everyday basis by cheaping out. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
I've been reading about Perelli's, sounds like they might be worth a try. I also have Michelin AS Pilots on one car and Michelin Pilot H-rated on the other. After Michelin, you will be disappointed regardless of what you try. Stick with the best...unless the pocket is tight.
I just put a set of Firestone Firehawk Wide Ovals on my sedan, and after they settled in at around 400 miles, they are really nice tires. I know everyone says stay away from Firestone, but these really are running great! Smooth ride, quiet, great grip wet/dry.
