05 Sedan Sport to 04 Coupe suspension

I have an 05 6MT, and over the weekend I replaced the front shocks/springs with a set from a buddy's coupe. Yeah yeah, only a .5" drop, and same rates, so not much of a difference. Anyway, I didn't do the rears; just ran out of time. So I took it to a local shop this morning, and they charge $75 an hour.

When I got there to pick it up this afternoon, they charged me $384 for 5.1 hours of work, according to the "book". Service guys should know what I mean.

Anyway, does that seem reasonable for replacing the rear shocks and springs? I took off the rear wheel myself last Saturday, and didn't know where to begin. It only took me a little over an hour each for the front shocks and springs. The guy told me the rears are much more complicated.

So is 5 hours reasonable?

BTW - searching for "sedan suspension label" yields 0 results. "Sedan suspension time" has plenty, just not anything that gives quantitative installation numbers for springs AND shocks, front and rear.

Appreciate the feedback.

5 hours for only the rears are just ridiculous. The rears are acutally a lot easier than the front since the springs are seperate from the shock. I did my 350Z supsension on my own. Took me about 4-5 hours total for the whole thing with jackstands and regular tools. And I'm considered slow! Should have only taken the shop 1 - 1.5 hours max considering they have lifts and air tools.

NO WAY!!!

5 hours is CRAZY!!! The rear springs are the easiest since they are separate( Strut and Spring). I think it took a buddy of mine 2 hours to do all 4 with jack stands and hjandjack.

Appreciate the feedback guys. But for clarification, it wasn't just the springs. It was the springs and the shocks as well.

Just how much of a difference should that make?

just tell them you have quote for infiniti technicans that
they charge too much..even more than the dealer..

Seriously, 5 hours is a bit bs, 2 to 3 hours sound reasonable.

cheers

That is ridiculous.

What $ amount did you agree to pay when they gave you the estimate to sign? They did give you an estimate, right? If you signed, authorizing the “Book” amount, then there is nothing you can do about it, legally. If you signed for an amount less than $384, then they were supposed to call you to get authorization for the additional work.

The rears take no more than 10-15 minutes each, it's the fronts that are a pain.

Nope, no estimate, nothing to sign. I know it's my fault. I'm not jumping up and down b!tching about it, but I am curious as to what is reasonable.

I dropped it off, told them I wanted the rears installed, and left. Didn't even ask for an estimate. Again, my responsibility. Just curious.

Thanks for the feedback guys

bring with someone who can stand up for u (or who can bitch abt it..and jump up and down). Bro, this price is really ridiculous, you can even
question them as how professional they are on using 5 hours to install
a set of rear shocks and springs.

If you haven't signed anything, they have no right to charge you like this..

just my 2 cents, and good luck brother.
