New rear tires 265s, saved 1 lb of weight

I've been having just bad luck with the Bridgestone Potenzas. A few months ago one of the Potenzas disintegrated on the road. Last week a huge metal clip jammed itself into the side of one of my rears. So I've had it, decided to get some new tires (with roadside hazard insurance now).

These are 265/40/18 Micheline Pilot Sport 2's. They barely fit on the rims. I don't know how people manage to get 275s on the stock 18*8 rims. The track rims are 8.5" wide in the back. 265/40 was closer to the stock diameter than 255/40 or 255/45.

Interestingly, the rim and tire combo is about 44.5 lbs. With 245/45/18 Bridgestone Re040's, the same combo in the rear was 46 lbs on the same scale.

The PS2 is one of the lightest tires out there. Too bad it costs so much.

That is a 265 on an 8.5" wheel? I was looking t put 275/35/19 on my OEM 05 6MT wheels. 19x8.5 in the back and I want a wider look.

Yeah, it's 265 on a 8.5" rim. I already think the 265s is pushing it, I wouldn't feel confident with 275s, and certainly not 275s on 8" rims.

I wanted to go with either 255 or 265, but 265/40 is the closest to the stock diameter.

I would have gone with PS1's, but they don't come in 265/40/18. In the near future, I'm going with 245/40/18's in the front. The PS2s come in those sizes.

And yeah, they're really expensive. Fortunately I just got my first real paycheck, no more of that less than minimum wage crap.

Once you go with these PS2s...you're not going to want to switch anything else. The PS2s is completely redesigned...for the better than the regular PS. I'd choose Bridgestones over the regular PS.
