hey guys

i just changed my brakes from an 03 and put 05 brakes on them.
when i bled the brakes i did evething the stoptech manual show and what everyone else said to do. i just took the car out for a test drive and when i push the brake pedal the first time i can push it all the way to the floor and nothing happens. when i push it a 2nd or 3rd time though it builds up pressure and the car stops. do you guys think that there is still air in the system and that i need to bleed the brakes somemore

Yep... did you do the pump 5times hold, bleed/squirt technique? (sorry! sounds falic)

 

yep...did that. Did it a second time and it seems to have held up firmer. We'll see when we put the wheels back on and take her for spin # 2......

 

I went thru a couple quart plus bleeding my brakes last time.

Remember, go Right Rear, Left Rear, right front, left front. (furthest to closest to the master cylinder.

I have to add some brake fluid after bleeding each wheel, other wise the master cylinder gets low and sucks in air.

If your brake fluid is dirty (i.e.not clear), use a little handpump and suck out the master cylinder first. they cost 12 bucks or so at an auto store. You can bleed your brakes yourself if you get a good enough hand vacuum pump. The one I got cost me around 29 bucks and can suck down to a 27" vacuum (perfect is 29.92" Hg vacuum).

oh yeah all the unsaid stuff, make sure you use unopened fluid only, make sure you use a DOT grade equal to or greater than DOT3, make sure you use brake fluid that is compatible for ABS. Motul 600 is all the above.

With the handpump you can bleed your brakes with the wheels on and NOT make a mess.

 

According to the Nissan/Infiniti service manual the brake bleeding sequence is right rear --> left front --> left rear --> right front. (Different that the furthest to closest procedure I followed for years.) Maybe it's because of the ABS System.
