All two and three piece wheels are forged, and that is the way they are made.

BTW - see you in the next day or so Mech....
Good to hear. That *wider* patch (of the same area) should do you good. Seeing me in the next day or so? You stalking me or something?

How many miles are you guys getting out of the stock 19" tires? Is 11,000 normal?

So, you’re saying it would be safer to split the stock forged 19 and it wouldn't mess up the integrity of the wheel? I'm no engineer but don't you think it would weaken the rim, especially at the welds? It just seems very scary to me on a forged rim especially one that wasn't designed that way? I dunno, but I wouldn't.

I totally agree (I am an engineer, though electrical ;-))- take apart a structurally sound wheel and put it back together again - non machine made or welded, etc...that's suicide compared to possible risk, so very slight possible risk, of over-sized tires on stock wheels.

Think about all those that push undersized tires on wide wheels...the tire pops it's bead from small curb hits, driveways, bumps in the road...

Hey ISMSOLUTIONS, how about an update? How are the tires doing now? How much wear and roadnoise? I am considering going this route when I need to replace tires after reading this thread.

Might I ask why people insist on putting wider-than-recommended tires on their 8" or 8.5" stock wheels? To 'put more rubber to the ground'? You guys don't think the factory 245's are adequate enough for the power and handling capabilities of a car like the G? If someone does it for the looks as well, it still looks like crap because of the conservative stock offsets.

And omg, that guy that put 315's on his G. What is this, a Viper?

You're right, people with baby dicks do not upgrade to big daddy wheels so they put 275s on their 7.5" wheels
