2006 Wheel Swap

I located a 2006 Coupe with all the options I want except 18'' wheels. Currently the car that they have coming in has 17'' wheels. According to the dealership tires/wheels cannot be switched because the 17'' supension is different than the 18'' suspension. Can anyone verify this?

Thanks.

Lies. I did this, and unless they changed something for the 06s, there will be no problems.

Suspension, brakes and etc. exactly the same for the 17" and 18" wheel cars.

Same Here

I am about to go pickup my 06, tomorrow. I had a 05 before and I liked the way the 05 rims looked. I am not a big fan of the 06 wheels. There are to spacious between the spokes. I told the dealer guys swap the 06 wheels for the 05 look. I have LS color btw.

I don't see the connection. He's got or is getting an '06 coupe. He wants to plus size to 18s instead of 17s and doesn't like the style of the OEM 19s. Where'sthe rice?

Wow that's a first one for me too... I sold my 19" OEMs in MINT Condition for 1500 and I lliterally had 21 emails inquiring about those. I upgraded to VOLKS but noticed a huge weight differenct but I opted for the added traction and looks. =)

Do you really think anyone who wants to change their wheels gives a damn what you think of their car? I changed my '06 19s to 17s(not OEM) because I wanted the better ride quality the higher profile 17 tires give. When one of you wiseguys wants to pay for my car and my gas, I'll let you decide how to spend your money on how the car looks. Until then, I could care less what anyone thinks of "MY" car, but me. Funny, but all the "ricers" I see are running on the most oversized wheels they can fit to the car, not the other way around.

I totally agree with you. I have an 06 and I wanted the 18" wheels because 1) IMO they look better and because they do not have a lip the centers look as large as the 19's 2) I wanted the better ride quality 3) I saved myself $$$.

When I was younger I used to mod my cars much more radically, now that I'm older I like my ride to be much more refined. I've tinted the windows, aluminum pedals, aero kit and future mods are an OEM front lip and a slight suspension drop. I'll keep the stock 18" wheels but install spacers to give it a more aggressive stance.

I also sold my OEM 19" Rays forged wheels with tires for $1,500 right after I got my '06. I had at least two dozen parties interested at that price. The dealer charges about $4,500 for the set. My advice is to get the 19s if they're standard equipment. Sell them for $2,000. You can use that money to buy whatever 17s or 18s you want (with tires) and possibly have $$$ left over.
