^^Does anyone know if these impact sockets are the standard thickness with a coating on top of them? I have a set of Volk rims that need a thin walled socket. A standard impact socket won't even fit inside the hole.

The masking tape trick doesnt work for me with my thin walled socket. I can't get enough tape on the socket and even then it just tears anyways.

I guess for $9.99 (3 piece set) I may just buy them and find out...but it would be nice if someone knew.

 

what sized socket are on stock (2005 model) 18" sport suspension rims for the sedan?

 

I'm having the same problem, I got those special sockets but it didn't work. 19 mm seem small and 21 mm seem to big! I have a friend who said he can take them off, I'll see tomorrow what his using. The worst part is I've been trying to do brakes now for a week but can't remove these wheels.

 

G2Fast, please let us know what your friend is using. I don't want to scratch these rims up..they are too pretty

I used electrical tape. No scratches.

 

do you have Volks? they are very deep and narrow just like my old Enkie Evolutions and not much electricle could be used resulting in the tape cutting. i could see if you could wrap it several times but with Volks i just dont think thats a good idea. they sell the plastic coated sockets and i know the site which i posted on this thread yesterday. I just dont know what size lugs i will be getting by MUTEKI's RX

 

I went to Sears and got a regular chrome socket (13/16), its close but wont rub. I also had the shop be careful and it worked out. I got those sockets with the pertective rubber and it ended up not working.

The link is both bars and sockets in one set, but I also sell just a sockets set only.(The socket set comes with different sizes in case you or your family has more then 1 car.)

 

damn this just happened to me, first time taking wheels off and the sockets are scratched. Any way to fix them? I have the OEM 19's.

 

Have the wheels refinished? Once they are scratched, thats pretty much it. Prevention would have been a better way to go by wrapping the socket in painter's tape

 

I wrapped mine in duct tape. Thicker and softer.

 

crap, well I might as well get new wheels now. LOL
