widened stock rims to ~10.5in!!

Well finally got around to doing it. Had my rear rims widened to 10 & 3/8in.
It cost $150 per rim plus ~$20 shipping.

www.weldcraftwheels.com (they're in Michigan)

V-groove welds on both sides of rims. Clean beads.

Rims are "true" & tires balanced without a problem.

New aluminium bands weigh just under 2lbs.

I have 25mm H&R spacers already on there. So they already pushed my rims out an inch, that left about 3inches of space in back for my addition.
I'll take a picture from under the car when it warms up outside, the tire is about 1/2 inch away from the shock boot. I'll probably cut it back a bit, so when I do some hard cornering it will not rub.

It put goodyear gsd3.... 315/35 r17 only $256/each at tirerack!!

lots of traction

the last picture compares the orig 235 my car came with to the new 315

Wow, interesting! I didn't know there's a place that does this so close to me. Can you notice a big difference in traction with the 315s?

They put tape to protect the rim during shipping

I love the stock rims, they were part of my initial intrest in the car 3 years ago. So why change if I love the rims!

I needed more meat even my ole 275's weren't enough with my boost

the price for really wide tires in a 19in size is very expensive!!!

plus I'd have to buy 19in rims...

from what i've researched, this type of work only works on cast wheels. it cannot be performed on forged wheels, since the cutting and welding will compromise with the integrity of the forging.

i must say, that's a nice sleeper mod right there. i just HOPE those welds dont' break off while you drive.
