Purpose?

I noticed when I changed stock 18" wheels and tires over to 17" with Blizzaks for winter that there is a bolt with a spacer on it mounted to the front hubs on the coup. Bolt is about one inch long and spacer holds bolt head away from hub about the same distance as the lugs. Only one bolt per hub and is screwed to hub between two lugs. What's the purpose of this bolt/spacer and is it OK to remove it??

Thanks

Hoot

Re: Purpose?

The 350Z has a similar bolt. This is to prevent one from rotating rear tires to the front. From what I've read on other forums, its okay to remove this and it removes rather easily.

Re: Purpose?

That's good news, since I already removed it!! :-))

It does remove easily, but my tire dealer nor I had a clue as to its purpose. Thanks!

Re: Purpose?

when I just got my new wheels for the Z, the tire shop didn't know what it was for either. I had to tell them.
