Wheels & Tires Grabbing the road and stopping.

Should I go 18 or 19 inch wheels on 03 sedan?

One could argue that you are missing the point of my post

Well then all the people putting coupe midpipes on their sedans should just buy a coupe too
And those that put 19" wheels on their sedans should just buy a BMW M5--since they come with 19"wheels stock

Plus--I never said I wanted a bmw--I simply used that as an example of one of the few stock sedans that can be had with an aftermarket "look" in the wheel dept. I said I wanted a better wheel/tire fitment on my sedan. The G sedan has a style that I enjoy more than the look of the current or previous bmw. And the G has better performance. Re-read my post.

If you run the correct offset it should not rub. Are you saying regardless of the offset 275s will rub
That diameter is out of spec
19x8.5 +35mm 245/35/19front
19x9.5 +45mm 275/30/19 rear That rear profile is where u are going to have issues...

U got that right BMW just knows what their customers want better than Infiniti when it comes to finder gap, offset and ride comfort. As many of us have already discovered you can lower your car and still keep the ride comfort simular to the stock set up (350z springs, Tein H tech, Dspec shocks etc...) However why pay 10K more for a 330i when you can invest 800 dollars into your suspension and be done with it

I have been told that this size works. Cru for one has signed off on this size.
I do not know from experience--just what I have been told.

The extent of my modifications through the years has been putting in cassette/CD players when the car didn't support it, a CD player in my truck when the builtin cd-changer died, and tinting my windows on the previous car. Otherwise, I prefer to let it remain stock.

In my opinion, most of the things I've seen people do to their car has been to the car's detriment. Lowering. Raising. Wide, small wheels, sticking out the side of the car. Wide, bigger wheels sticking outside of the car. Huge spoilers added to some Civic.

You're referring to the things that you've noticed, and you've noticed them because they've been too extreme. Small wheels, huge rims, wheels sticking outside the fenders, enormous exhausts, and giant spoilers almost always look ridiculous. Tastefull lowering, however, always looks better than the stock appearance because it gets rid of much of the gap between the tire and the fender. Larger wheels look better, too, as long as they're not too big. If you look through some of the pictures of people's cars on this forum and others, you'll find that most of them look far better than stock.

Do you expect MOST people to be a member of this board and not mod their car other than tinting... That's not likely therefore if someone wants advice concerning upgrading their wheels from factory they will get it here most of the folks that have modded their car and post here on a regular basis have had tasteful modds in the case of civics that's a whole nother issue.

I'd go with 19's over 18's.

Not to confuse you, it also depends on the actual style of the rims too. Some rims that are 18 might look like they are 19, and vice versa.

Also, a drop is going to make the rims look a lot bigger too.

Out of spec? How so?

You can run the sizes you suggest but 275/30 is going to be a rubber band.

How many G's have you seen with these detrimental mods you're referring to (aside from the lowering)???

Not many, right?

I debated the 18 vs 19 for a while too. On my sedan, the 18s ended up being the way to go. Significantly less expensive up front and in tire replacement, better ride quality, generally less weight, and always lower rotational mass radius = better acceleration/braking. IMO, all of these advantages add up to more than a minimal aesthetic advantage of the 19s. Especially when 18s are combined with a 1-1.5" lowering.

No, I'm saying a 35 series with that tire width will rub with stock ride height. 275/30/19 works, but not enough rubber IMO & you'd need to drop the car to make it look good. I started a thread in the wheels & tires section asking if the above specs. (that you listed) will rub (concerned w/ the rear....I know the front fits). Concurrent w/ my thread, someone recently mounted 275/35/19's (45mm offset) and they rub....Nick something or other (maybe Nickk6 ?) posted the thread and has confirmed this, so he is going to take a baseball to his fenders to bend them (NO JOKE! ). Let me know if you can't find the thread.

No..not many at all CRU! I recall two: 1) That guy who put those 22" chromes on his black sedan ( ) and 2) that guy who had a HUGE sticker across the front of his windshield. That's all I remember...though maybe there are a couple more (out of the thousands of members on this forum) .

He's the ONLY one I've ever heard that rubs with that set-up.
