Most 18s will be lighter than 19s and the price of 18" tires are alot more affordable than 19" tires.
So, since my G came with 17s, I would do 18s. I have concluded that 19s would be too heavy, too expensive(mainly tires), and have too rough of a ride. The tire price is especially important--when running staggered setup--you can't ROTATE so you got to PROLONGATE! And with Falken, Pirelli, Avon, Nitto offering 245/40 and 275/35 18s from 136-200 compared to 236-336 in 19s that could save you 500+ bucks.................... and on an affordable set of wheels that could be 1/2 the price of the wheels. On more expensive sets 15-25% of the wheels.

You can find affordable 19" wheels and tires out there you just have to be a smart shopper. As for staggard wheels if someone already has a problem with paying $200+ for wheels they shouldn't go staggard

In the rear the widest you can go is 285 but most go 275 18 or 19
As far as profile it all depends on if you plan to get springs but to stay close to your current tire diameter you should go with either a 40series or 45 series 18 or 19.

If I go with an 18" wheel, I can get the Falken Azenis in 245/40 and 275/35s

Very true (tire size wise)....Toyo T1-R's can be found $220 for 245/40/19's, so not that much more. Though running 275/35/19's will rub on the rear of the sedan (as recently discovered), so it's a moot point for me.
What is wrong with the factory wheel size again?
Other than that, at some point, I've already scarred one tire from it being as low profile as it is, I don't know why you would want to go lower.

19x9.5 +45mm 275/35/19 Rrear
If you run the correct offset it should not rub. Are you saying regardless of the offset 275s will rub

I would like to have a look similar to the BMW 330I sport in terms of the wheel size, tire size(width and aspect ratio), fender gap, and lateral positioning of the rear wheel--you cant do that with stock 17s with out major drop, and spacers and shoe-horning a wider tire in the rear and that is not safe to me.
