Question What are better? 20's or 19's

My tires are dead and need to be replaced. I was thinking of replacing the rims and tires at the same time. I wanted to add some 20's but dont know what kind of problems I will encounter. I wanted to know what other people thought? Which is a better choice. Replace the tires or replace everything?

The 19's seem to be noisy... ...some have said even noisier than 20's. Likewise, 19's don't seem to have as many tire choices as 20's these days.

Are you going for looks more than performance?

18's are THE BEST for performance, maybe even 17's....

19's tend to be the best compromise between looks and performance.

I just can't bring myself to downsize from 19's when I switch.

lets get a bit serious here.

If you are at all concerned about performance you wouldn't have purchased a G35.

The basics:
20s look better.
20 inch tires are cheaper than 19s.
the fender arches are so big on these cars that anything less then 19 looks tiny.
Easy choice, 20s.

When my tires went out on my stocks I decided to change the rims, I made the compromise of looks and performance with the 19". I have the toyo t1R, they are good. Check out my wheel thread. The rim I chose was available up to 19" so I chose that, because of the lip they dont look that big. 19" is a good choice but if your all about looks choos 20", I wouldn't bother getting 18" aftermarket

If you're looking at Volks for example, you can get away with 19" as they look good on the car. Dark centers, rivets, etc on the other hand make the wheel look smaller so if you're looking at a wheel with that kind of design you're better off going with 20s. If you go with 19", please don't get 285 tires. So much meat on the tires doesn't look right, especially if you don't have a good drop.

As far as road noise, I don't think you'll hear much of a difference between 19s and 20s. Its just noisy either way. Heck, I still think my 18s on the pilot sports were noisy. 20s def for the looks if that's what you're going for. It'll slow you down a little, but with 20s, all you'd wanna do is cruise down the street at 30mphs

If you go with bigger wheels you'll need a drop or it will look a little funny, b/c the space between the tire and wheelwell will look bigger. Its an optical illusion, b/c of the skinnier tires. Also, performance will suffer. Go with 19's, its a sports coupe, not a truck.
