New Tire Question

Ok my rear tires are shot, and i got approx 6K miles left on the front ones. I'm buying the same ones that came with the car (Bridgestone Potenza 225/40/19 and 245/40/19). I'm seeking advice on whether or not i should buy all four tires or just buy the two rear ones and change the front ones later

My father said that I should switch all four right now since I'm doing the job, finish it (his philosophy). I'm not tight on cash so I could afford to buy all four. I'm seesawing on this topic becuase there are different philosophies. Thats why I'm coming to this site, since most of the stuff I've learned about cars, has come from here.

should I buy all four tires or the two rear?

how long did you get out of the first set? If you are only getting 12000mi like some people, then the fronts will last you through another half set of rears, but if you are getting like 20-24000mi out of a set, then I think you should just replace them because you'll have to in 1/4 the time

If you have the cash buy all 4. Why wait another 6k only to have to take the car back in to get 2 tires replaced.

But are you not going in every 3,000 miles to have the tires rebalanced anyway........must maintain less than 5 grams error to be vibration free!

If the estimated tire wear is another 6K why would you not drive for at least most of that while you still feel safe with them? You're throwing away at least a third or more of the tire life if you don't.
