What is most taxing on tires?

Other than the obvious doing burnouts, screeching through turns, and launching at redlights.

Highway driving or local driving?

I think crazy hard abs breaking causes a toll on tires as well. The road surface really eats up the tires.

Underinflation.

An underinflated tire can't maintain its shape and becomes flatter than intended while in contact with the road. If a vehicle's tires are underinflated by only 6 psi it could weaken the tire's internal structure and eventually lead to tire failure. Lower inflation pressures will allow more deflection as the tire rolls. This will build up more internal heat, increase rolling resistance (causing a reduction in fuel economy of up to 5%) and reduce the tire's tread life by as much as 25% while increasing the probability of irregular treadwear. Drivers would also find a noteworthy loss of steering precision and cornering stability.

does this mean somewhat overinflation will increase tire life?

No, because overinflated tire is more prone to road damage.

Four 200LB occupants in the car during high speed cornering will stress your tires! Ok, tire pressure is critical to tread life as is compound and road surface. Significanly lowered cars also will add to wear as camber is an issue with this car. FL uses crushed shells in the road surfaces and mixed with extreme temps eats soft performance compounds even quicker. Yeah, the surface is sticky but it doesn't seem to last long! I'm far from an expert but learning after 4 sets of tires.

In the lab and on test apparatus, tires are inflated to 35psi [for 44 psi max tires] and 41 psi [for 51 psi max] to measure and graph their parameters. Cornering stiffness vs load and Lateral force vs slip angles and Self aligning torque.

[Brand new] Endurance testing is done with max inflation and max load [per side wall label]for 30 minutes at speed.
