I have called 5 different tire stores in my area (Denver, CO) and 4 had not heard of Avon and one (Discount Tire) could not give me a price before ordering them. Do you have to go thru the Tire Rack to get them? I prefer to buy from the retailer that mounts them and hopefully balances them. I dont like dealing with problems by phone. Any ideas? Any more popular tire brand with similar performance/price as the Avon 550 A/S? I read great reviews about them on Tire Rack.

 

Currently, Avon Tyres (yes, that's how they spell it) are only available through the Tire Rack. I understand your concerns, but most tire dealers will mount tires you purchase from the Tire Rack. (Better to make a few bucks profit than none at all.) If you're still concerned, just take it to one of Tire Rack's recommended installers. You can even have them shipped directly to the installer. I haven't had problems getting tires from Tire Rack, but I hear they have excellent customer service when there is an issue.
